All-round finance manager
I have a lot of experience in leading financial departments. Gained experience at companies and in accounting firms. As a result, I have dealt with a wide range of areas, including business control, planning & control, annual reporting, and taxation.

Nowhere a ten, but everywhere an eight. A true all-rounder with a strong vision on finance.

Business wise
I have a good ability to empathize with the company and the market conditions. I am accustomed to discussing this within boards, management teams, and individual leaders. I am only really proud of myself when I am able to present the right KPIs that fit the business. In doing so, I work from a company-wide perspective and ensure that the correct and validated dataset is used.

Affinity with IT
Because of my affinity with IT, I have gained experience with ERP implementations, data-driven working, and setting up BI reports. I also have high expectations regarding the organization of the finance department, and I am only satisfied when work is done according to the “no-hands” principle.

I do not only involve myself in the organizational side, but I also participate hands-on in achieving the best results.

My involvement

ABOUT ME

CONTINUOUSLY LEARNING

I am Bas Michielsen with a passion for financial work.

During my studies, I started working at Accountantskantoor Ramdhani in Warmenhuizen. Here I learned bookkeeping and had my first introduction to accountancy. Subsequently, I attended the Hogeschool Accountancy in Alkmaar, followed by the post-doctoral Accountancy program at the VU in Amsterdam, and successfully graduated as a Chartered Accountant.

After completing college, I started working at Deloitte, where I expanded my knowledge within the audit practice in Alkmaar. Because I had a strong preference for special work, after a few years I took on my first interim assignment at Coleman Benelux. Here, I got acquainted with financial control and business control within FMCG.

Since I missed working with highly educated people, I returned to Deloitte to lead a combined compilation and audit practice in Haarlem as a Senior Manager.

After a number of years, I felt the need again to contribute to building a company. At that time, the opportunity arose to assist with a management buy-in at Exter. I have been involved since the acquisition (carve-out from DSM) as a financial interim manager. During this period and the following years, I gained a lot of experience in the food industry (Cono Kaasmakers/Beemsterkaas and Burg Group/Vinegar/Lemonade).

With all this knowledge, I came up with the idea to make the knowledge I had gained about financial management available to businesses within the SME sector. When the opportunity arose, we took over Accountantskantoor Hoogland. Accountantskantoor Hoogland was an office with a combined compilation and audit practice. I transformed this office into a paperless office, where administrations were processed based on no-hands accounting. For this, I had created a SAAS platform on which the administration was managed together with the client.

Due to the increasing regulations within accountancy, I then decided to sell the office and take up my old passion: financial interim management.
